$50,000 Double Play Powerball Prize Won in Kansas City

Sep 04, 2025

A Powerball ticket purchased at World Liquor, 9351 N. Oak Trafficway in Kansas City, led to a $50,000 win for a couple playing the Missouri Lottery in Clay County. The win resulted from their decision to add the Double Play option to their ticket for the Aug. 25 drawing.

Adding the Double Play feature allows Powerball players to play the same numbers in an additional, second drawing held after the main Powerball drawing. It was during this Double Play drawing that they matched four of the five white-ball numbers, plus the Powerball.

The Double Play numbers on Aug. 25 were 15, 16, 23, 52 and 66, and the Powerball number was 25.

Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Saturday’s estimated jackpot is $1.7 billion – the third largest in Powerball history.

In FY24, players in Clay County won more than $29.6 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $3.1 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $10.1 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
