Clerk-Picked Numbers Lead to $61,000 Show Me Cash Prize

Sep 05, 2025

A set of randomly picked numbers led a Missouri Lottery player to a $61,000 Show Me Cash jackpot in the Aug. 14 drawing.

The winner was at Shell Food Mart, 3308 E. 32nd St. in Joplin, when she asked the clerk to pick out her numbers for her.

“I hardly ever play, except around the holidays,” she shared. “But I just decided that I would that day.”

The number combination she received – 2, 11, 28, 34 and 37 – turned out to match all five numbers drawn that night.

“I had to check the numbers like a million times!” she said. “It was really exciting!”

Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $172,000.

Players who purchased tickets in Newton County in FY24 won more than $6.1 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $623,000 in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $1.3 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
