Powerball Player Learns of $50,000 Win While on Vacation

A Missouri Lottery player in St. Charles County discovered he won a $50,000 Powerball prize while on vacation with his wife.

At first, he wasn’t sure if he had the win he thought he did.

“I knew the numbers (played), but I switch my Powerball number back and forth,” the winner laughed. “We were in suspense for a while until we knew!”

The winning numbers on Aug. 9 were 7, 14, 23, 24 and 60, and the Powerball number was 14. His ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball, to win the $50,000 prize. The ticket was purchased at Rocket, 664 Jungermann Road, in St. Peters.

The Powerball jackpot has currently grown to $1.8 billion for Saturday’s drawing. It’s the second-largest jackpot in the game’s history, and players are reminded to play responsibly within their budgets.

In FY24, players in St. Charles County won more than $68.2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $6.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $16.5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
