A Pettis County Scratchers player who won the first $777,777 top prize in the “Triple Red 777” game plans to honor her late husband’s wishes by taking a trip to see the Northern Lights.
“My husband wanted to see the Northern Lights and to dip his feet in the ocean,” she shared. “I really wish he could have been here with me to do this.”
She explained being drawn to the $10 “Triple Red 777” Scratcher ticket because of is bright red color, and she was shocked when the first number she matched revealed a large prize.
“The first prize I uncovered was $100,000,” she laughed. “Then I won another $100,000, and another and another … and the last prize was for $77,777.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Woods Supermarket, 703 E. Broadway Blvd., in Sedalia. Over $29.1 million in unclaimed prizes remain in the game, including another top prize of $777,777 and five $77,777 second prizes.
In FY23, players in Pettis County won more than $9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $888,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $2.9 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
